What I have found works to get around it are 2 things -- 1) Keep your foot on the brake until after you shut the engine off. Also, pressing the brake while you jiggle the shifter can help too. I put car in park, then get a warning to "shift to park". I have to jiggle the shifter to get it to engage and clear the warning. The official method from the GM bulletin is replacement of a switch component along with the harness or replacement of the entire shifter. If the issue persists, contact your dealer so they can fix it. When shifting to park, press, and hold: for the duration of the entire stroke, the trigger button while you are shifting to park. Don't just throw the shifter into position super fast. A lot of people seem to want to do it in the .250 - .400 second range.
