The door code says 18, which I know is 3.08 Non-LS. The guy I bought the truck from told me that he replaced the rear axle with a different ratio.The '05+ front has radius arm mounts case into the pumpkin, '99-'04 has leaf spring pearch. The '05+ front will have the 3 bolt, thin silver dialout hub with "FORD" turn knob, the '99-'04 will generally have the cheap black plastic dialout and turn knob. Help! 9" Ford axle shaft identification. Ok thanks guys for the help thus far. Here's the deal, I've got what appears to be mix-matched axleshafts in the Heinz-57 rear axle in my '56 F100. Here's what I do know- the housing is a 67-72 housing and the backing plates/brake assemblies/drums appear to be '56 units, probably from the Dana axle.Every F250 sold in the 1970's had a rear axle capacity of 5300 lbs., 4 WD or 2WD. There's no listing in the Ford parts catalog for 3950 lbs for any F250. Two rear axles were used in 1977 F250's, Dana 61-1 or Dana 60.
