Cold weather starting - MUST have a good working battery, MUST have a good starting system, set the choke fully, crank and start - simple. If you cant crank, as posted above, for many minutes and the battery dies, have your battery load tested.I have a 2005 Vulcan 1500 classic FI. It has about 15000 miles on it now. I ride it just about every day that it doesn't rain. Over the past few months it has become harder to start. It turns over with no problem but it takes longer and longer to kick off. It runs like crap for a few minutes then runs normal.But the 4-speed '96 to 5-speed '99 situation sounds like a deal breaker. Even if I get a drive shaft working, wont my clutch system and other stuff pose problems too? If so, I have a nice BUBF 1500-A for sale! When key is turned on, fuel pump only runs for a couple of seconds, then shuts off. 1. With key on and after 10 second wait, should have 12v on white/red and black/white at fuel pump connector. If no 12v on white/red, there is a break between DFI main relay and pump connector.2. Probe starter side of heavy cables connected to solenoid. Push start button and check for 12v.
