That's pretty hard hitting at level 1 I think, compared to a normal long sword. A ranged kineticist has the option to add con to their blast too which is also a decent damage booster again in comparison to the typical bow which will usually only get half the strength modifier applied.The optimal turn for a fire kineticist is not going to care about +1 to +4 on a 50-60% hit. The best turn is flying flame in your aura (especially expanded aura at L10, with a single strike). MOST (like 75%+) of your damage is from the aura, not a paltry +1 to +4 status bonus with 50-60% chance to hit on a single strike.The changes in the 2e version of Elemental Blast are much more significant when it comes to not outperforming the other martials than their chance to hit. I also feel like this time the playtest is especially tricky, because there are at least two decent 3rd party attempts at a playable 2e Kineticist (that people like and recommend!).Kineticist Ready to play? No other instinct in the (non-LO) rulebooks is a 100% straight upgrade to the Fury instinct (ignoring the level 1 class feat/anathema) until the Elemental instinct.
